Covid-19 has shuddered the whole education system of India
• The pandemic has affected the lives of students across India. It has caused uncertainty about the future of the young students as their studies have been compromised.
• Schools and colleges were not able to evaluate students properly before promoting them to the next grade.
• Online classes have proved to be less effective than regular offline classes and also the bond between the students and teachers has weakened.
• Apart from lack of proper education, the students are also facing physical difficulties attending online classes as it puts strain on their eyes and creates other health problems as well.

India’s online education infrastructure lacks majorly
• Still many parts of India are devoid of good internet connectivity which is essential to attend online classes.
• The two most affected sectors from this pandemic are the financial sector and the education sector. The financial sector can be recovered but the loss of education of students can’t be recovered.
• Illiteracy in India was already a major problem but the pandemic has worsened the situation even more.
• Promoting students to the next grade without any proper evaluation has emerged as a big disadvantage for hardworking students.

Promoting students without proper evaluation puts down the morale of good students
• According to a UNICEF report, almost 75 Lakh students in Bihar only won’t be able to continue their studies further due to the effects of the pandemic on their family’s financial condition.
• Students belonging from families below the poverty line don’t have enough resources to attend online classes and in this way, their right to education is being compromised.
• The evaluations system being used to promote students especially in universities is very shallow and doing injustice to the students.
• All these problems have put students into depression and their mental health has degraded tremendously.

The ground reality of the Indian education infrastructure is saddening
• The financial crisis faced by many families during the pandemic has led a great number of students to discontinue their studies.
• India is still a developing nation and we do not have enough resources for every student and internet connectivity is still lacking in many areas.
• Delay in competitive exams will also affect the careers of many students and the fact that the third wave is inevitable in India, the future for these students is uncertain.
• Canceling exams was a big injustice to the students who studied the whole year to score well.

Education is the backbone of any country and the pandemic has weakened it
• Education is the most important pillar of the human capital which drives the development of a country.
• It has been estimated that about 24 million students in India will be impacted due to Covid-19 because of which online education has emerged as the last resort for students.
• One of the major disadvantages of online education is the increased screen time of students which affects their eyes and brain negatively.
• Education is incomplete without practical knowledge and due to the pandemic students are only able to obtain the theoretical part of it.
