SECOND WAVE OF COVID SHUDDERS INDIA

A new variant of the corona has apparently battered India as it is spreading even faster than the common variant. Many experts saw it coming as over the last few months we witnessed people abandoning the use of face masks, sanitizers, and social distancing. Family functions, parties, weddings were filled with large gatherings of fearless and maskless people.

The consequences are ahead of us and this week India is achieving new milestones in terms of the Covid cases. With over a total of 13.68 Million cases, India has now become the second most affected countries leaving Brazil behind. We’re receiving a record number of cases each day.

The Indian healthcare system is at the brink of collapse as the magnitude of the spread of the new variant is much faster and hospitals are facing insufficiency of beds and healthcare workers. Where the Delhi government has implemented a night curfew, the Maharashtra government has imposed a lockdown to break the chain of infection.

So far 108 Million have been vaccinated but that doesn’t include the youngsters and the new variant seems to be infecting young people and children at a fast pace. In the wake of the pandemic, CBSE has also cancelled and postponed board exams of the 10th and 12th class students respectively as a preventive measure.
