Suppressing The Third Wave

Dr. K Vijay Raghavan, former director of the National Centre for Biological Sciences, in a statement cautioned the country by saying, “Phase 3 is inevitable given the higher levels of circulating virus, but it is not clear on what time-scale this phase three will occur. We should be prepared for the new waves.” Lately, many experts have been warning the country to prepare for the 3rd wave. We need to take strong measures immediately to fight the third wave of the deadly Covid-19.

Aggressive Vaccination is the only solution

Experts are predicting that the numbers of the second wave cases will start declining by the end of the present week, which would be a huge relief for the country. But if people started becoming complacent and forgetting the precautions again, the virus will continue its fatal run across India.

Vaccinating a major part of the at-risk population can reduce the deadly impact of the third bump on the country. An efficient vaccination plan for maximizing the coverage will be needed. According to the current statistics, only 11% of Indians have been vaccinated with at least the first dose of the vaccine. Daily vaccination targets are barely achieved and shortage of vaccine is also a great matter of concern for India.
